Introducing HYPEMASTERS: BLINK’s minimally verbal Youth Dance Theatre Company

BLINK Dance Theatre have recently received a grant from Youth Music’s Shift the Scene fund, to start a new minimally verbal youth dance company for learning-disabled young people.

The youth company we’re creating will be made up of three groups, and we will be running taster sessions for the first group, Hype Masters, this October through December.

What is Hype Masters?

Hype Masters is a group of learning-disabled or autistic young people who meet once a week to create sensory dance performance work together. It is open to those aged 17 - 22 years who enjoy interaction and seeking connection. It warmly welcomes wheelchair users and young people with different access needs.

They will be led and supported by a neurodiverse team, including BLINK’s experienced learning-disabled artists who have worked together to create shows such as DRIVE THRU and BEAT-FLYS.

How can my young person get involved?

Anyone interested in joining the group will be invited to a taster session later this year, once dates and times are confirmed. The taster sessions will take place at BLINK Dance Theatre’s home in Nine Elms, Wandsworth (nearest station is Battersea Power Station).

After the taster sessions, there will be a relaxed selection process, to ensure the group works well together and that we are able to meet everyone’s access requirements. We will redirect to other opportunities, if Hype Masters isn’t the right fit for your child or young person.
